When I went back to visit my friend the next day, I was recognized by some of the nurses. It seems I had created a legend of a large bald Scot, thrashing about in the corridor, falling to the ground, and involuntarily shouting obscenities at the top of my voice. I don’t know if they understood what was going on. Perhaps they thought I was crazy. I realized what was happening, and asked for a strong magnet. A strong magnet can temporarily inhibit shocks. I don’t think they had one. I was twitching, falling on the floor, and shouting “Fuck” at the top of my voice whenever I got a shock.
