Because a final exam would always cover a lot of material, I would send out my own sheet of equations that included the important ‘basis’ equations for the material covered - just to help them study. And I would tell them ahead of time that that same exact equation sheet would be the cover sheet of their final - so they needed to know what each equation meant and what it applied to. It was a good preparation approach.
