I then ran off copies of both tests and interleaved them into a single stack. Thus, when I distributed the tests, each student was sitting next to a student on either side with the other test. It was subsequently very simple to see by the student answers which students had copied answers from their neighbors. And, of course, those students who cheated automatically got low scores on the test because their answers were wrong.
