The first is that the course was required for all majors within the business school. Most of the students major in things like management and marketing where most courses were not particularly quantitative. So my course was frequently the most quantitative thing a given student would take in their entire career. Not surprisingly, many students struggled, both due to a lack of aptitude, and a lack of effort.
