I have owned almost every model of Mercedes and other high end sedans and the Ford Crown Vic was my favorite. It was a road dog, fast, comfortable, solid and, for the most part, very safe. But, in the interests of full disclosure, the one flaw on this car was the gas tank was positioned right behind the rear axle (instead of above the axle) and if the car was rear ended at 75mph or greater there was nothing to keep the gas tank from being punctured by items in the trunk as the car’s trunk buckles. This sometimes caused fires and explosions. It rarely happened but when it did it was usually State Troopers on Freeway traffic stops who suffered. It’s shocking how stupid some drivers can be when they approach a police car on the side of the freeway, all lit up, conducting a roadside investigation.
