In the United States, we teach every single student who comes through the door. That child's background, socioeconomic class, ability level, legal status, home language, etc. does not matter. If a family registers with a school district, we will teach that child at no cost to the parent. If your child shows up not speaking English (our primary language), with no school supplies (we suggest a list, you don't have to buy a thing), having no previous experience with any school skills (social or learning), we will teach him or her.
