In a less humorous case, my safety guy came rushing in one morning to say he was debating calling the police about a report from one of our retail stores (a Kmart sized place). An employee had called him to say that another, a receiver in the back area, had shown him a silver bullet and said, “This one’s for the store manager, maybe today.” This was before we started to feel shootings were a significant threat. I asked him to enquire back whether we knew if the guy owned a gun. Back came the answer, “Yes, he uses it to target practice in the receiving dock before store opening.” I said, “OK, get the police there asap” and SWAT cleared the store before approaching the receiving area. It turned out he was on parole with a ban on gun possession so he went directly to jail. We never found out why no one had ever reported his behavior, but it appeared they were all scared.
