When you get home, write your notes up properly, preferably on computer, expanding the short sentences into longer, more coherent paragraphs. If there are gaps in the sense, or things that don't make sense, make a note of them, and as soon as possible contact the lecturer to check what was going on. Was it you mishearing, or misunderstanding, or did s/he make a mistake? Check it! I was recently on Jury Service, and it was noticeable that all the members of the jury were listening carefully and taking handwritten notes. The barristers, the Clerk to the Court, and the Judge were all typing notes onto laptops.
